The long-awaited flowering of Cieza arrives late, but with many activities

The activities scheduled for the Cieza Flowering Festival in 2023 have had to be postponed due to the delay in the blossoming of the fruit trees caused by the low temperatures recorded at the end of February.

The long-awaited flowering in Cieza has finally arrived after a two-week delay caused by the low temperatures recorded at the end of February. Although all activities were originally scheduled to begin on those dates, it had to be postponed because, two weeks ago, flowering was at 20% – 30% higher than usual for that time.

However, the time to delight in the Blossom in Cieza has arrived and visitors to this wonderful natural spectacle can enjoy miles of hectares of peach, apricot, flat peach, nectarine, almond and plum trees, covered by a dense blanket of pink, green and white colours. Once again, the colours and fruity aromas flood the municipality.

To witness this spectacle, considered the greatest chromatic variety of flowers in the world, according to Antonio Santos, one of the people in charge of the website 'floraciondecieza.com', the City Council has organised, in collaboration with several companies, a series of activities that include hiking routes, picnics among flowers, workshops and shows.

Exhibitions, photography competitions and a selection of 'flowering menus' have also been scheduled as part of 'Saborarte', the Cieza gastronomic fair, which is being held from March 9 to Sunday in the Plaza de España.

These activities related to the flowering are carried out simultaneously with others aimed at promoting the heritage and natural wealth of the municipality, such as musical performances, craft markets, rafting trips down the Segura River and visits to caves with rock art or to the Islamic village of Siyâsa.

In addition, both Ciezans and tourists have three complete routes at their disposal to contemplate the spectacular images offered by the fruit trees in bloom.
