21-5-2024.- Nearly a hundred mayors, local action group leaders and tourism technicians from the province of Ávila attended the opening ceremony of the 13th edition of the Gredos Sierra's Piorno en Flor Festival last Friday. In addition to the presentation of the complete programme of activities that runs until 24 June in the Gredos Norte area, the agrotourism project Experiencia España en Floración (Spain in Bloom Experience) was presented.www.floracion.es) to which the Provincial Council of Ávila and Asenorg have joined as partners.
Antonio Santos, co-founder of Agromarketing (www.agromarketing.es) who leads the project, explained the details and objectives of the initiative that seeks to promote the different flowers of the country and its territories, as well as the agri-food products they produce as an opportunity for these rural areas.
In front of the audience, it was announced that in a few weeks nine training courses on flowering tourism will be available for the leaders of the Club España en Floración partners, which includes the entities that have joined the project. In addition, the APP for España en Floración will be presented in June.
The attendees were told about the different promotional actions that have been developed in recent months, such as at Fitur, Fruit Logistica in Berlin, the organisation of the 1st Floración Forum in Murcia or the stops on the Colours and Flavours of Spain Tour. The important impact of the website www.floracion.es was also highlighted, which in just a few months is reaching an average of 35,000 monthly visits from flowering tourists.
65,000 hectares painted yellow
Thousands of visitors are expected to experience the spectacle generated by the 65,000 hectares of this yellow wildflower that fills an entire region of 50 municipalities in the northern part of Gredos with fragrances and sustainable tourism.
Concerts, decoration and tapas competitions, hiking routes and literary gatherings generate a significant flow of visitors to the area. The initiative is organised by the Gredos Norte Business Association (Asenorg), with the support of the Ávila Provincial Council. In addition, throughout the festival, tourists and visitors will be able to send photographs of the flowering broom or of the activities taking place at the Festival until June 24 on the website www.floracion.es. They will be entered into the draw for Spain in Bloom t-shirts and sweatshirts.
The Agromarketing España team also took advantage of their visit to the Sierra de Gredos as part of the Colours and Flavours of Spain Tour to set up the Spain in Bloom Travelling Interpretation Centre, as well as to film the flowering landscapes with a drone and 360° and to conduct interviews with entrepreneurs and those responsible for flowering tourism in Sierra de Gredos.
